5 Of The Most Inspirational And Amusing Comments Ever Spoken To Me Since I Set Up Tech-ni-Fold
27 January 2012
Soon the 60,000thTri-Creaser will be installed, and I still have to pinch myself to make sure I am not dreaming. It only seems like yesterday that my boss at my last place of employment was telling me to sell my patent and proto-types to Heidelberg for a couple of thousands of pounds or whatever I could get for them. That was back in 1999, and a lot of unbelievable things have happened since, good things and bad things, but mainly good. I am happy to have experienced some of the more negative stuff, because I have learnt from each experience.
I thought I would put up my list of 5 of the most inspirational (and amusing) comments ever spoken to me on a personal level throughout my business journey (even the ones that seem to be negative were inspirational, honestly!!) There are many, many more, but these spring to mind...
5 Of The Most Inspirational And Amusing Comments Ever Spoken To Me Since I Set Up Tech-ni-Fold
"You will never make any more than pin money out of this creasing idea, and you will struggle to find a better job than working for me.”
This is what my last boss said to me when I suggested quitting my job in 2000 to set up Tech-ni-Fold.
“Can we buy two of your Tri-Creaser’s with discount before you leave?”
This is what the same boss told his production manager to ask me before I left his company to set up Tech-ni-Fold
“It’s not worth the plane ticket over, we hear about ideas like yours all the time.”
This is what Heidelberg’s product manager said to me in 1999 when I tried to get an appointment to present and demonstrate my product; it took 12 months of perseverance to get that meeting.
“Maybe you got lucky”
This is what the same product manager said to me after the Tri-Creaser outperformed their scoring device during that appointment, a few weeks before they placed their first order
“ Rotary methods of creasing can’t eliminate cracking problems, it's impossible."
This is the most common statement I hear; most of the 60,000 Tri-Creaser’s we sold so far went to many who had previously said things like this.
Scepticism is natural, everyone has this trait
Please, please, don’t get me wrong, I am not trying to show disrespect for any of the people mentioned above, I would probably have said some of the same things if I was in their position. Scepticism is natural, we all have this trait, but it doesn’t mean that we should give up based on what people say about us or what we do, I hope you get my point.
There are some really funny stories connected to the statements above, let me know if you want to hear about any of them, why not post a reply below?

When we lost our dreams we lose a lot in this life. I think we should go and don't give up at our dreams. Somethimes we receive a lot of information from friends and other people, but we must finish what we have to do. You will say I'm a dreamer but I'm not the only one!
