Print Finishing
What is Print Finishing?
Print finishing is a general term which printers use to describe any processes implemented after a sheet has been printed. Printed sheets commonly go through the print finishing processes of folding, stitching, binding and creasing. Specialist areas of print finishing can include laminating, drilling, numbering, collating and shrink wrapping. A print finishing solution adds value to the print, bringing to life flat sheets and turning them into beautifully finished stitched or bound glossy books.
How we improve the print finishing process
As mentioned above, print finishing covers a wide array of processes; however, it is a simple fact that a high percentage of printed sheets need to be creased before going through those stages. For instance leaflets, greetings cards, mailers and book covers will show signs of cracking on the fold without being creased first (see image above.) Historically, printing and print finishing companies have regularly outsourced their printed sheets to be pre-creased on platen or letterpress cylinders.
This was universally recognised as the only viable method at the time. Although in recent years this form of creasing has been developed in desk top format for printing and print finishing firms to buy in; this method has a reputation for being slow and limited in what else it can offer in terms of other print finishing applications.
CreaseStream speeds up creasing and print finishing process
With the growth of digital print, toner cracking during the process of folding and print finishing in general has become a major issue. We at CreaseStream have developed a unique method of achieving cylinder quality creasing with print finishing equipment in rotary format.
This means that our CreaseStream solutions can speed up the process of creasing and print finishing, up to five times faster than conventional methods. CreaseStream technology stands out because each machine can also accommodate extra print finishing applications such as fine, flat and almost invisible micro-perforating and razor sharp guillotine quality trimming.
As a dedicated and revolutionary set of print finishing machines, CreaseStream adds value to your print and helps you to deliver faster results, cost effectively.
